News // Logicalis Launches Enterprise Cloud Offering Focused on Delivering a Managed Cloud Infrastructure

Provides Flexibility to Clients in How They Choose to Develop and Manage IT Needs and Expense Structure

Farmington Hills, MI, May 10, 2010 – Logicalis, a $1 billion provider of integrated information and communications technology (ICT) solutions and services, has launched the Logicalis Enterprise Cloud to meet the growing needs of its clients. The use of cloud computing is a growing trend among organizations looking to reduce the infrastructure, maintenance and energy consumption costs of their computing environments while continuing to respond to changing business requirements. Industry analysts forecast a rapid formation of cloud offerings, with IDC predicting the cloud services market topping $42 billion by 2012, and Dataquest predicting that between 28 - 37 percent of all server shipments by 2012 will be for cloud building. The new service from Logicalis is in direct response to market demand. It is a natural extension to Logicalis' expertise in the design and implementation of highly virtualized computing, storage and networking infrastructures as well as its investments in enterprise-class managed services.

“Over the past 10 years we have made significant investments in managed services and data center facilities, combined with key partners such as Cisco, HP, IBM, VMware, and Microsoft, we are in the prime position to help customers build and deploy their cloud strategies,”  stated Terry Flood, Logicalis President.

Logicalis will offer a range of cloud solutions and services to the U.S. market, including:

  • Consult - Provide architect level consulting service to help customers assess, plan and deliver cloud strategies to their organizations.
  • Build - Design and build private cloud environments for single or cooperative clouds.
  • Manage - Provide managed services to remotely manage customers’ private cloud environments.
  • Operate - Build and operate the “Logicalis Enterprise Cloud” public cloud infrastructure

Building a cloud computing offering allows Logicalis the flexibility to provide clients options in how they choose to develop and manage their IT needs and expense structure. Shifting capital expenses to a monthly service allows organizations to focus on their core business and not the day to day challenges of managing a data center.  The Logicalis Enterprise Cloud focuses on building an enterprise class offering capable of running business critical applications.  It offers customers a more flexible solution compared to some of the other cloud providers.

“Our solution is built from a flexible computing architecture that provides the computing power, memory, storage and bandwidth necessary to create and manage multiple virtual operating environments,” stated Mike Martin, Logicalis Director of Cloud Computing.  “The containers are configurable to our clients’ needs, rather than a standard set of options that often provide too little or too much computing power.”  In addition, Logicalis managed services are added to remove the management burden, which can be complicated with cloud solutions.

The new offering also addresses industry regulations such as those in retail, healthcare, and financial sectors. This is turning the heads of independent software vendors as a way to offer a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) platform without the need for a large capital investment in a data center.
