Solution Provider Logicalis Sees 124% Increase in HP
x86-based Server Sales; Pent-up Customer Demand, Virtualization and
Competitive Chip Technology Cited as Contributing Factors
Farmington Hills, MI, July 27,
2010 – The triple-play of resurgent enterprise spending,
the continuing trend toward consolidation and virtualization, and
the use of new processor chip technology made for significant gains
in the year-over-year sales of HP x86-based servers by Logicalis,
an international provider of integrated information and
communications technology (ICT) solutions and services. In its
fiscal Q1 ended April 30, 2010, the solution provider noted that
sales of HP x86-based servers, including the popular ProLiant,
Integrity and BladeSystem servers, had soared a staggering 124%
over the same period the year prior. More information about
Logicalis’ HP server solutions can be found at http://www.us.logicalis.com/our-partners/hp.aspx.
“We’re proud of the fact that, as a 15-year HP
partner and as a Converged Infrastructure Elite partner, we have
access to the latest HP server technology, which has helped us
deliver HP solutions to our enterprise and midsize customers,” said
Brandon Harris, Logicalis Vice President, HP Solutions. “Combined
with our ability to provide software and consulting services, we
have been in a winning position to help customers benefit from new
server technologies in their businesses.”
Enterprise customers, who had held off on IT
spending last year, were this year spending on the technology
lifecycle refresh required in their data centers in order to take
advantage of the performance increase, significant return and
savings offered by newer server technologies. In addition, the
trend toward server virtualization and consolidation in the data
center made for additional purchases of new blade server
architecture. These two trends were supported by new, competitive
moves by HP, including co-development between the vendor and
chip-makers Intel and AMD that enabled the embedding of technology
to allow customers to better capture, monitor and manage their
enterprise power usage.
This power usage technology enables customers
to monitor server racks and, if necessary, redistribute and
rebalance computing tasks among processors, effectively changing
the power profile of the servers and lowering overall energy
consumption accordingly.
HP announced that revenue for “industry
standard servers” had increased 54 percent in the same period.
Researcher IDC noted that the vendor held the No. 1 spot among
competitors for worldwide server market share.
Logicalis, one of HP’s largest national
solution providers in North America, is a Platinum National
Solution Partner, Converged Infrastructure Elite Partner,
Enterprise Servers Storage Elite Partner and HP Software Elite
Partner. Logicalis engineers collectively hold nearly 280 HP
certifications, including 15 who have achieved the level of Master
Accredited System Engineer-SAN Architect, 14 Certified Systems
Engineers, and 18 Certified System Administrators.
